Human brains have many different ways to process information, starting from animal-like information processing systems to human-only information processing systems. Human-only information processing systems vary further based on the methods of processing information. There are many different levels of processing information in the human brain. Among them, there are two well-known cases. One is critical thinking, and the other is creative thinking. Current education focuses on critical thinking since the foundation of the development of critical thinking is knowledge which is easy to access. Even so, methods to teach learners to develop critical thinking are still limited. There are only a few people who can teach learners to develop critical thinking systematically all around the world.
Creative thinking is close to impossible since it is not teachable or learnable. In human history, very few people have been able to provoke creative thinking processes. They are known as geniuses like Newton and Einstein.
In addition, provoking the ability of critical thinking does NOT mean automatically translating to creative thinking. On the other hand, creative thinking can govern critical thinking. Thus, understanding the differences can provide the target for the brain functions to develop systematically.
In this course, starting from brain evolution, we will explore all aspects of the human brain and its functions. Learners will be able to see the differences in information processing methods inside the human brain and reflect the information for brain development in coming courses.
